Course Objectives The main objective of this course is to:
  • Develop/enhance student’s capability to conduct and complete their research work effectively.
  • Introduce the research methods and techniques which advances the GIS and remote sensing applications

  • Research Process: Formulating the research problem, literature survey, developing the hypothesis, preparing the research design, data collection and data analysis, generalization and interpretation, vriables, types of variables, data collection in physical, observation, questionnaires, interviewing forms.
  • Basic vs. Applied Research:
  • MS Thesis:How to select a topic; Writing a thesis research proposal, Thesis Write up; Thesis Chapters; How to Cite References; Reference Management Software Programs, Software in the Market i.e. EndNote, ProCite and Reference Manager; Database development.
  • Project Proposal: Parts of a Project Proposal; Funding Agencies in Pakistan.
  • Research Paper: Parts of a research paper; Process of Submission; Peer Review Concept; Impact and Non-Impact Factor Journals.
  • Research Ethics: Research Ethics in general; Research Ethics in Applied Research
  • Basic Theory of Statistics
