Course Objectives To provide an understanding of the principles and practical methods for the detection and analysis of explosives.
Detail Content Introduction and survey of detection techniques. Conventional Detection & Analysis; Chemical methods and spot tests, detection of hidden explosives. Instrumental Analytical Techniques; Infra Red (IR) Spectroscopy, Gas Chromatography (GC), Mass Spectrometry (MS), Hyphenated Techniques viz MS-MS, GC-MS, LC-MS. High Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC), UV Spectroscopy, Atomic Absorption Spectroscopy, Thermo gravimetric Analysis (TGA) & Differential Thermal Analysis (DTA), Electron Beam Analysis. Comparison of detection methods, Improvised of detection methods, Trace analysis of explosives, Forensic explosives analysis procedures, sampling and sample preparation techniques.
