Course Objectives To extend the knowledge of the use of advanced materials, such as composites, structural and functional ceramics, in ordnance applications, Methods for the selection of materials, both qualitative and quantitative will be displayed.
Detail Content Polymeric Materials; Methods of production, properties and function of molecular structure. Composites; Mechanical properties related to volume fraction and morphology of reinforcing phase, polymeric, metallic and ceramic matrices for composites. Ceramics; Structural ceramics for high strength and high temperature applications, functional ceramics including the conditions for opacity and transparency to electromagnetic radiation. Metallic Materials; Conditions for resistance to fatigue, crack propagation and stress-corrosion cracking. Advanced Aluminum alloys, Titanium alloys, high strength Steels etc.
