Programs PG
Session Spring Semester 2017
Course Title Urban Transportation System Evaluation
Course Code CE-867
Credit Hours 3
Pre-Requisutes
Course Objectives Course Objectives: Objectives of the course are as under:
  • Introduction to the concepts of Transportation system evaluation through rigorous analytical techniques.
  • Give broad insight into the different facets of transportation system evaluation and planning.
  • Providing a solid introduction to transportation demand and cost analysis, engineering economic analysis and environmental consequences of transportation projects.
  • Appreciation of the science involved in multi criteria decision making and transportation programming, through the use of different case studies.
Course Outcomes: This course is designed to provide an overview of the Urban transportation systems evaluation. On successful completion, students will:
  • Build an understanding of major transportation related issues and problems in Pakistan and abroad as they pertain to the planning and evaluation of transportation facilities and services.
  • Develop an understanding of transportation problems in context of system approach.
  • Understand how to apply systems evaluation techniques, using economics, and urban planning principles to transportation investments decisions.
  • Enhance students’ personal skills including their ability to think conceptually and analytically.
  • Develop an understanding of different methodologies to predict transportation demands and costs.
  • Develop a broad picture of how, principles of economics can be applied within the context of transportation systems to understand the effects of different plans and policies.
