Course Objectives
|
Aims is to develop understanding of national / international policies / protocols and understanding different strategies for disaster management with following objectives:
- Argue for the importance of, and reasons for, incorporating DRR measures in national and sector policies, budgeting, planning and execution.
- Account for the need for moving DRR from policy levels to concrete action, which saves lives and reduces economic and social losses.
- Promote the need for analyzing disaster risks and socio-economic vulnerability as part of the analysis and understanding of poverty and root causes of poverty.
- Outline the process and steps for integrating DRR into national and sector-specific strategic planning processes, budgets and execution.
- Advocate for the incorporation of DRR approaches into national and sector-wide planning, budgeting and practices, based on a personal plan developed during the course and the experience gathered.Contribute to and gain from an international network of DRR-practitioners (course participants, instructors and facilitators).
