Course Objectives This course focuses on analysis of complex chemical compounds and energetic materials processes from the molecular levels. Emphasis is placed on the basic chemical and physical principles that govern these processes.
Detail Content Advanced Chemical Analysis: Mass Spectrometry: Instrumentation, Mass Spectra Interpretation Procedures with special reference to energetic materials. Advanced Hyphenated Techniques: Mass Spectrometry – Mass spectrometry (MS-MS), Mass spectrometry as a research tool to parallel the theoretical aspects , Gas Chromatography-MS (GC-MS), Liquid Chromatography-MS (LC-MS), State-of-the- art developments in all these techniques. Thermal Analysis: Instrumentation and application of various techniques viz Thermogravimetry (TG), Differential thermal Analysis (DTA) and Differential Scanning Calorimetry (DSC). Study of various thermo chemical and kinetic parameters. Thermal analysis curves of energetic materials. Flow Diagnostics: Laser Optical Instrumentation: Laser Doppler Anemometry (LDA), Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV), Laser Induced Fluorescence (LiF), Particle Tracking Velocimetry (PTV). Multiphase Flow Instrumentation: Resistivity/Conductivity Probes, Fibre Optics Techniques, Photography & Image Analysis.
